Elaine Delivers Compassion and Love Along with Groceries Park Merced/University Park Food Network

December 8, 2020 by Deborah Finestone

Each year, our Good Neighbor Awards honor some of our dedicated neighbors. They volunteer their time to help seniors and people with disabilities get the resources and support they need to age and thrive in their own homes and neighborhoods. We are delighted to honor Elaine as our 2020 Good Neighbor Honoree for Park Merced/University Park Food Network.

For a brief time,  the pandemic stopped long-time volunteers from continuing to deliver groceries to our disabled and elderly neighbors in Park Merced. But then, the City Team/Mobilize Love sprang into action! Elaine Chea and her family took responsibility to keep the service going when it became clear that rotating weekly new volunteers wasn’t working. It also became clear that the need would be for months instead of weeks.

Along with her organizational skills, what distinguishes Elaine is her ability to deliver compassion and love along with the groceries.

Our neighbors look forward to seeing Elaine herself as much as receiving the groceries she brings! Her dedication and hard work help keep our vulnerable neighbors safe and cared for during these difficult times.
