Art Viewing Adventures: Beyond the Museum Walls (Virtual)

Mon August 24, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

  • « How to Get Around San Francisco Safely During COVID-19 (Virtual)
  • Boomer Music Talk with Richie Unterberger: Women of 1960s/1970s Rock, Vol. 2 (Virtual) »

Though museums may be closed, a wealth of amazing art is available for public viewing beyond their walls. A San Francisco law requires new large building projects to budget 1 percent of total costs for publicly available art. This means significant works by world-famous artists are available to be safely viewed outdoors in our own city. Join Rodney Paul, an experienced museum guide, and his fellow museum guide Anna Ewins to discuss works in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood. A map enabling participants to experience these works on their own will be provided.

Rodney has been leading Zoom-based art tours long before shelter-in-place, as a way to share art from a distance. In his tours, he provides information to help viewers mine the artworks for meaning based on their own experiences and perceptions.

To join by phone, dial 888-475-4499 (toll free) or 669-900-6833 (local).
Enter Meeting ID: 865 6747 4200, then press # twice.

To join with video, click this link: https://zoom.us/j/86567474200 to register and join. Wait in the “waiting room” until the activity is ready to start.

To create a friendly environment and minimize interruptions, we will close the activity to new participants 15 minutes after the start time.

The above link will work on your tablet or your computer. You’ll be prompted to download a Zoom app the first time you use Zoom. If you’re using a PC or Mac, you can join from your web browser without using the Zoom software.
