Join us as Santiago shares with the class his knowledge and experience with art. A true piece of art is concerned not only with technique but also and more importantly with self-expression. In this class, we will emphasize individual creativity. The participants will explore their personal world in order to create a body of work that is unique. During class, we will also cover all technical aspects of drawing and painting that may arise. These may include:

– Basic concepts of perspective, shadowing, light to dark tones, composition
– Basic pencil techniques
– Drawing still life
– Watercolor: materials and techniques
– Acrylic: materials and techniques

Bring samples of artwork you have done before to share with the class and get feedback.

Materials List:  Colored pencils, Pencil sharpener, Cotton balls, Paper
Optional Materials: Watercolor paint, Acrylic paint, Brushes, Rag (a piece of cloth), Watercolor paper, Canvas

About the Instructor: Santiago Gervasi holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts. He has shown his artwork both nationally and abroad.
