Beyond Male and Female: Understanding Gender Identity (Virtual)

January 27 @ 2:45 pm - 3:45 pm

  • « 廣東話電腦課- 星期三下午一點 | Cantonese Computer Class- Wednesday 1 pm
  • 廣東話電腦課- 星期三下午三點 | Cantonese Computer Class- Wednesday 3 pm »

Male or Female? Blue or Pink? Masculine or Feminine? He, She, or They? The conversation around gender identity and the use of gender pronouns can seem like an overwhelming concept to grasp. Many outside (and within!) the LGBTQ community, especially older adults who grew up in different times, may be at a loss with where to begin with the ever-expanding conversation! Maybe you have children or grandchildren who are transgender. Maybe you’ve met people who use “they” and “them” as their personal pronouns. Maybe you identify outside the binary of male and female and want to learn more. This conversation, led by staff from Openhouse, will provide you with the knowledge to better understand gender identities and engage with those outside the gender binary. We’ll cover basic concepts, talk all about pronouns, and give you space to ask questions.
