Boomer Music Talk with Richie Unterberger: Shel Talmy, Part 1 (Virtual)
January 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Although Shel Talmy’s name isn’t too familiar to the public, he was one of the most important record producers of the 1960s. He produced the early hits by the Kinks and the Who, as well as other notable records by Pentangle, the Creation, Manfred Mann, Roy Harper, David Bowie, and others. Talmy died in November 2024, and as a tribute, rock historian Richie Unterberger—who interviewed him a couple times—will show and discuss his 1960s work in two parts this month. This first part focuses on the mid-1960s, when he produced the first records by the Kinks and the Who, as well as others by less celebrated names.
