Good Neighbor Summer: Walk and Wave

Mon June 22, 2020 - Sun June 28, 2020

Seven socially distanced Cayuga neighbors holding signs to cheer up homebound seniors

In the Cayuga neighborhood, residents have been gathering every Wednesday with face masks, yard sticks (to keep people the right distance apart), and signs. They walk through the community, pausing to wave and cheer up people who are isolated at home . It’s a fun way to build community among both the walkers and those at home. We invite you to bring this wonderful practice to your own neighborhood!

  • Walk and Wave:  This week, head out on your own or organize your neighbors for a (safe, physically distanced) walk around your community and wave to people who are isolated at home. Share a description, photo, and/or video with neighbors@sfcommunityliving.org or on facebook.com/CommunityLiving. We’ll share a selection on our website!
  • Get Creative: Make a sign (or two!) to bring with you on your walk. Send photos to neighbors@sfcommunityliving.org by July 27. We’ll be awarding a prize for the most creative signs!

Help celebrate the many things that each of us can do to build joyous, caring, and resilient communities at a time when this is more essential than ever.  Call 415-821-1003, x113 or visit our Good Neighbor Summer page to get Seeds of Hope wildflower seed packets, follow updates, and join the fun!
