How to Have an Informed Conversation with a Veteran

Mon November 8, 2021 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event
  • « Art Viewing Adventures: Judy Chicago Exhibition at the de Young Museum
  • Boomer Music Talk with Richie Unterberger: Buffy Sainte-Marie »

With Veteran’s Day upon us, join us to learn how to engage more deeply with veterans. This important discussion will be led by two veterans from Swords to Plowshares, Victor Inzunza and Tyler Solorio. Victor and Tyler will dispel the assumption that you should say “Thank you for your service,” especially on Veterans Day, and instead offer some tips for opening up the dialogue. They’ll give us a chance to talk about challenges and successes we’ve had with starting the conversation. And they’ll talk about ways for veterans to disclose their histories and possible trauma and disabilities.

HOW TO JOIN THE EVENT:

To join by phone, dial 888-475-4499 (toll-free) or 669-900-6833 (local). Enter Meeting ID: 859 4154 3946, then press # twice.
To join with video, click this link: https://zoom.us/j/85941543946 to register and join. Wait in the “waiting room” until the activity is ready to start.

To create a friendly environment and minimize interruptions, we will close the activity to new participants 15 minutes after the start time. The above link will work on your tablet or your computer. You’ll be prompted to download a Zoom app the first time you use Zoom. If you’re using a PC or Mac, you can join from your web browser without using the Zoom software.
