Let’s Make Stuff with d’Arci: The Still Life
Tue June 8, 2021 @ 11:15 am - 12:15 pm

A still life depicts the beauty of inanimate commonplace objects. These subjects can be natural like food, fruit, or vegetables on a plate, table, or in a bowl, flowers or plants in a vase or pot, or an arrangement of rocks, shells, seed cones, etc. Man-made objects can include coffee cups, books, vases, jewelry, collectibles, paint jars, shoes, dishes, cutlery, and the like. These items are then grouped into pleasing compositions and artistically elevated through the use of shape, line, and color. Still life artworks are not only pleasing to create and look at; they are also a window into our private world and an ode to the humble things that serve us in our daily lives.
In this class, we will look at various still life artworks of the past and present as we think about the objects we wish to artistically honor from our own lives.
