LGBTQ+ Talks: Alvin Orloff of Fabulosa Books (Virtual)

Meet Alvin Orloff of Fabulosa Books, a longtime manager at Dog Eared Books he bought the locally owned bookstore’s second location in San Francisco’s LGBTQ Castro district a few years ago and christened it Fabulosa Books. The storefront at 489 Castro Street had previously been the home of beloved LGBTQ-focused A Different Light Bookstore from 1986-2011. He chose Fabulosa as it was a gay slang word from the mid-20th century British idiom known as Polari, which gay men used as a secret language to skirt anti-homosexual laws.
