Let’s Make Stuff with d’Arci: About Face (Virtual)
April 13 @ 11:15 am - 12:15 pm
A good portrait is not just a visual representation of a person; it reveals something about their essence. … A strong portrait captivates viewers, draws them into the artwork, and grabs their attention, causing the viewer to stop and wonder about the person depicted. Capturing that “thing” is a whole lot more complicated than just accurately rendering features, but hey, we have to start somewhere! In this class, we will look at what makes a great portrait and the fundamentals of building a human head. So go grab a pencil, a ruler and some paper, a reference photo or a mirror and let’s get a HEAD of the game! (Photo Credit: Lucian Freud Portrait of John Deakin, 1963)
