Let’s Make Stuff with d’Arci: Textures of the Animal Kingdom (Virtual)
Wed July 28, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Animal Kingdom has a wide variety of identifying textures from soft and fluffy to hard and scratchy. Achieving the correct texture when rendering hair, fur, feathers, fuzz, skin, and scales artistically can seem daunting, but it is actually not all that hard. In this class, we will comb through some art history to see how the masters did it, and brush up on some tips and tricks used by contemporary artists. PS: Don’t forget to bring your artistic license!
(Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks 1834)
For this class, you will need Pencil, paper, and an eraser. Various mark-making implements such as Fan brush, liner brush (rigger), Q-tips, paper towels/cling film, stiff bristle brush, soft bristle brush, water-based paint, water jar (2), rag, old pie pan, or plate (to use as a palette for paint).
