Position Title: Bilingual Facilitator and Outreach Associate (2 Part-Time positions)
1. Fluent spoken English/ Cantonese, 2. Fluent spoken English/Spanish
Location: Noe Valley/Glen Park . Position is based at the Partner’s 30th Street site. Workshops are delivered at locations throughout San Francisco, or virtually from a remote location, so flexibility is required. Program materials storage is located at Partner’s 30th Street site.
Proximity to Public Transit: Partner’s 30th Street location is accessed by Muni routes # 24, #36 and J-Church. Access to community locations where activities take place will vary.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Part Time: Average of 15 hours/week; $25.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Flexible between 9 AM- 5 PM, depending on program activities.
- Primarily Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility for occasional Monday, Friday, or weekend outreach activities. Workshops mostly occur in the afternoon from 1 PM to 3 PM, or 3 PM to 5 PM. Morning sessions are held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM.
Partner Organization’s Mission
Our Partner’s mission is to relentlessly pursue quality of life and quality of care for older adults and their families.
Position Overview: As the backbone of the program, Facilitators deliver a comprehensive curriculum that incorporates a fun and thoughtful approach to aging well. These interactive sessions encourage participants to take actions to enhance their health, financial well-being, social connectedness, and overall quality of life. The Facilitator guides participants through the program to ensure their engagement, learning, and retention. The program serves adults 55+ and is increasingly reaching San Francisco’s Spanish, and Chinese-speaking communities.
Summary of Responsibilities: Facilitators will deliver a pre-determined number of 10-week workshop series per fiscal year in-person and/or on-line as needed. Facilitators host each interactive session, in conjunction with the participation of expert faculty. Facilitators are also responsible for conducting information sessions in the community and on-line to ensure the workshops have a consistent pipeline of participants. Depending on audiences for each scheduled series, Bilingual Facilitators may present some series in English, and some in the other language in which they are fluent.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Workshop Series Delivery and Coordination (75%)
- Deliver core curriculum as “your own” to make it come alive for adult learners, generally conducting one to three workshop sessions per week.
- Foster community and connection with participants.
- Provide support to the Program Coordinator with PowerPoint and video presentations, and to conduct online or in-person surveys for participant feedback about the workshop series.
- Collaborate with Program Coordinator to track attendance, and follow-up with “no-show” participants.
- Ensure supplies and materials for in-person workshops are ready and available at the first session.
- Work with Program Manager to ensure that materials are prepared and ready to ship or deliver in person to participants in advance of the first online session.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to invite participants who have completed the series to the program’s alumni group and participate in monthly alumni talks.
Community Outreach & Information sessions (25%) In person and on-line
- Work with Program Manager to identify potential Partner sites and cultivate relationships with organizations and institutions to secure MOU’s for the delivery of workshop series for their constituents.
- Conduct online pre-workshop Information Sessions to recruit a pipeline of participants for upcoming workshop series.
- Attend community events to distribute fliers and other program information.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent public speaking skills, and experience with facilitating and engaging groups comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds and who might have different needs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally in both English and Spanish, or English and Chinese.
- Able to think “on your feet” to encourage participant engagement yet provide consistency in series format and delivery.
- Enjoy, and thrive on fostering connections and community.
- Open to expressions of differing perspectives among group participants, yet skilled in maintaining a climate of mutual respect, and keeping the focus on the session’s topic.
- Collaborate with Program Manager to track attendance, and follow-up with “no-show” participants.
- Comfortable and experienced using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Experience with presentations and group facilitation using Zoom effectively to engage participants.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to transport and carry workbooks, and other supplies, to onsite venues or work with Program Manager to make other arrangements to ensure their timely delivery and dissemination.
- Make use of available tools or methods to project or use whiteboards, etc. to present material to audience as needed.
- Circulate among participants to greet and engage them during in-person workshops.
- Cleared background check.
- Proof of covid 19 vaccinations + 1 booster
Partner will provide: Laptop, cell phone. WIFI accommodations available, if necessary. Transportation reimbursement (mileage), or Lyft program for work-related activities, not including Partner’s work site.
Position Title: Grant Writer
Location: Choice of fully remote work or both remote and local at Eureka Valley near The Castro, San Francisco
Work Location Requirements: Flexible Combination: Remote work, Zoom, and my house.
Proximity to public transit: MUNI K, L, or M lines. Bus #35 picks up at the Castro MUNI station and drops off within a block of the worksite. Walking from the Castro station is also an option. Note, some hilly blocks. In addition: be able to climb 2 sets of 10 stairs each at the job site.
Start Date: ASAP
Part Time: $25.00/hour; variable number of hours, looking for flexibility. Depends how many viable grants you can help us apply for. A dynamic range exists for the right go-getting individual. Open for discussion.
Mission of Organization/Business: Our mission is to present an annual film festival either virtually or as a hybrid fest shown in the Bay Area or a wider area, if possible, with films that inspire, educate and entertain intergenerational audiences about the issues of Aging.
Position Summary: Write proposals to apply for financial grants allocated by government departments, companies, foundations, and trusts. We are looking to hire a dedicated grant writer to write grant proposals for our organization. The grant writer will write coherent, organized, and compelling proposals. They will apply their knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach income goals. They will collaborate with our festival team members in the organization to assist with other fundraising projects and develop relationships with key board members to accomplish our goals of grant writing.
To ensure success, grant writers need to write well, have proficient knowledge of fundraising methods, and be committed to the mission they are representing. Preferred applicants are deadline-driven team players with outstanding multitasking abilities.
Grant Writer Responsibilities:
- Developing relationships and collaborating with board and team members.
- Displaying adherence to the organization’s mission.
- Maintaining proficient knowledge of the organization’s history and programs.
- Assisting with the execution of the development department’s strategy.
- Identifying grant funding opportunities.
- Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals.
- Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.
- Collaborating with Executive Director and Director of Development to send funders newsletters, and to promote on-site tours.
- Collaborating with Executive Director to compile an annual report if needed
- Maintaining records in hard copies and computer databases.
Grant Writer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of grant writing experience.
- Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals.
- Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong people skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements: As mentioned above, MUNI lines run to the Castro station and either the #35 bus outside the Castro station to the bus stop 1/2 block from the worksite or an Uber/Lyft from Castro station direct to the jobsite, or a short walk of 5-6 blocks to the job site is a second option. Keep in mind that occasionally the MUNI train station escalators/elevators may be out of service requiring the need to ascend/descend several flights of stairs.
Up-to-date Covid vaccinations are required and masking may be required at the jobsite.
Background Checks: Fingerprints/Criminal Record Check will be conducted.
Other Considerations: Looking for a non-smoking candidate. Prefer someone we hire to be fairly well-groomed and cleanly while working in close proximity.
