Senior Beat Conversations: Show & Tell DIY (handmade) Holiday Gifts (Virtual)
One of the ways to save money over the holiday gift-giving period is to DIY (Do It Yourself). It’s also a charming way to show that you care enough to spend time crafting something beautiful for friends, relatives, children, nieces or nephews. North Beach artist and tour guide Blandina Farley will share her holiday postcards and Senior Beat staff and friends will show some of the gift items they’ve made. We’ll also provide links to plenty of other, easy to do, homemade gift ideas.
Please join us and show off your hand-crafted gift items – holiday or otherwise.
Senior Beat Conversations are held the fourth Wednesday of every month, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. The San Francisco Senior Beat is an online magazine profiling the experiences and sharing the voices of San Francisco’s population of adults 50 and over.

let’s make stuff!
Let’s Make Stuff with d’Arci: Elements of Art: The Importance of Composition (Virtual)
Join local artist d’Arci Bruno to learn all about the importance of composition.
Composition is the term used to describe the arrangement of the visual elements in a painting or other artwork. It is how the elements of art and design —line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space—are organized or composed according to the principles of art and design —balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, unity/variety—and other elements of composition, to give the painting structure and convey the intent of the artist.
For this class you will need: Several sheets of blank paper and a pencil. Feel free to just listen in and take notes, or work on your own projects while we chat!
