Minema: Kimchi movie short and intergenerational conversation (Virtual)

September 1, 2020 by Maia Veres

What it is
Minemas are 50-minute interactive experiences that create and deepen community through the power of stories.  Expect to spend some time watching great content, and some in quality conversation with the creator and other audience members! This event is intended to be intergenerational, open to adults of all ages.

Kimchi Minema
How have you built your family? What barriers have you broken down to stand united? In Jackson Segars’ Kimchi (SXSW ‘18) we follow a Japanese-American marrying into a Korean-American family as he discovers a hidden connection with his future grandfather-in-law. Will their cultural differences stand in the way, or will it reveal hidden histories they have shared? Together with the director, let’s unravel the secrets and truths, love and hate, and past and present that all make up the idea of family.

The Game That Can Give You 10 Extra Years of Life

August 1, 2012 by Marie Jobling

Sometimes it helps to look at life from a new perspective.   I’m not a big video game fan, but I found this TED talk by game designer and traumatic brain injury survivor Jane McGonical so thought-provoking and insightful, I had to share.  Really about ways to have a better life until the end of life – kind of a WOW moment.  Check it out.
