Our First “Tech Swap Meet” Shares Computer Learning and Resources

February 1, 2014 by Marie Jobling

Our first Tech Swap Meeting on January 22  brought together seniors, people with disabilities, and a wide range of organizations working to make computers and technology available to everyone. We were thrilled by the response – over 90% of the attendees rated it a great or good event, and most found it fun and engaging. The biggest hits were the “Sticky Wall” where participants could post offers and requests for computer help, the opportunity to learn about new resources, and the chance to network, share ideas, and make connections.

We want to thank everyone who participated in making this first event a success — the Department of Aging and Adult Services’ SF Connected program, Community Technology Network, Self Help for the Elderly, ReliaTech, the BACE Timebank, Independent Living Resource Center of San Francisco, sf.citi, and all of the many individuals who shared their ideas and talents.

The Swap Meet was the first of four, each planned to help with envisioning and working toward a future when 90% of all San Franciscans have online access. The next Tech Swap Meet will be in April – sign up for our email newsletter to stay up to date on the details.
