Boomer Music Talk with Richie Unterberger: The Brill Building (Virtual)
Join rock and soul music historian Richie Unterberger presents a program on the Brill Building. In the early and mid-1960s, young men and women wrote dozens of great rock classics for stars like the Shirelles, Dionne Warwick, the Shangri-Las, and the Animals. Often, they worked out of the New York cluster of music publishers known as the Brill Building, and sometimes went on to become stars with their own records. He’ll discuss footage of many of their hits, written by legends like Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Neil Diamond, and Bert Berns.
